So, yeah, I've been thinking about Alexander the Great ...

I know I give him a hard time in this blog, but he's not a bad lad, really. He's just not classy like our Julius, that's all.

But he's definitely great.

...

Anyway, imagine if Alexander were alive in the modern world, and he had to get a job, just a regular job.

Imagine he started somewhere as an office clerk. On the lowest rung, as it were. Where would he be after five years? Would he be the office manager? No, no, no. Surely, he would be the chief executive at the firm ... ?

Ha! No, he would still be an office clerk. Not even a senior office clerk. Oh, I'm sure his bosses would have offered him promotion at various times, but he would have turned all those "opportunities" down.

The modern world is a joke. Alexander would know that, and live accordingly.

Actually, after a while, I'm sure he would get the sack from his office job. Then he would be on the dole.

A man like Alexander would be happy on the dole ... if people left him alone. However, people rarely leave you alone in this world.

I can imagine concerned family and friends asking him, "Alexander, haven't you got any ambition? This new firm will train you up as a ... whatever. What's wrong with you?!"

Obviously, there wouldn't be anything wrong with him. No. He would just smile to himself. Maybe give a little sigh.

Of course, the real trouble would come when Alexander had to deal with, uh ... "successful" people. Imagine Alexander talking to a lawyer, a dentist, an accountant ... and imagine the disdain they would have for this loser - oh, in their eyes.

How would Alexander resist the urge to reach for his sword?
