Asset managers want ... !!!

Oh! Oh! Oh! 'Eh?!' Oh! Those asset managers, man, they want. 'Ha! What do they want, boss?' Well, they always want something, Voice. The gits!

NEW YORK - Celent has released a new report titled Asset Managers Want Their Order Management and Portfolio Management to be One. The report was written by Jay Wolstenholme, a Senior Analyst with Celent's Securities & Investments practice.

Okay, okay. They want it all to be ... ONE. 'Like becoming one with the cosmos or God, boss?' Ha! Nothing like that at all, Voice. We're talking about asset managers, remember.

As asset managers continue to develop their trading desks, the interaction between the trading desk and portfolio managers is crucial. The aggregation of transactions and positions is the base layer, and buy side vendors continue to closely integrate order management systems (OMS) and portfolio management system (PMS) solutions to achieve this enterprise goal.

Is this important? I mean, really important? There are other things going on in the world, you know. Christ!

As asset managers continue to develop their trading desks, the interaction between the trading desk and portfolio managers is critical in achieving incremental precious basis points. Buy side traders are an important ingredient in maximizing portfolio return by minimizing execution costs and shortfall risk utilizing multiple go-to-market execution strategies and tactics.

They're just wrapped up in their own little bubble, ain't they?! 'Man, they love finance. What do you expect?' I don't know, son. I just don't know any more.

The ability for portfolio managers to gain incremental basis points across their investment through their trading desks is a major positive. Portfolio managers are learning to trust their trading desks and the information their traders can provide on the liquidity and safe timing of markets, optimizing execution costs.

Okay. Whatever. 'What does Jay say?' Eh? 'What does Jay say?' Jaysay? Er ... well, he's a senior analyst. Do you mean Jay? Jay Wolstenholme? 'J. J. Wolstenholme?! No. Jay Wolstenholme.' Oh. We've heard from him before, actually. Well, he says this, or he said this -

"The right technology and quantitative tools can give the buy side trading desk the information they need for trade analysis and execution and most importantly the quantitative data to communicate to the PMs," said Jay Wolstenholme, a Senior Analyst with Celent's Securities & Investments practice.

Okay, okay. And we ain't got no ENDS, dear reader(s). Just this -

ForeScout Technologies makes the visible invisible!

Wow! What about that, eh, dear reader(s)? I bet you weren't expecting that on a chilly Monday morning. I like the sound of these guys. 'Boss.' What, Voice? 'You've got it all wrong. Again.' I don't think I have, man. 'Yes, I think you have, man. ForeScout Technologies helps to make the invisible visible.' So they help. So what? 'The invisible visible.' No, no, no. The visible invisible. 'It's not that! They make the invisible visible. Help to make.' Visible, visible? Help, uh. Er ... well, how come you haven't gone to them then, my little disembodied voice? You invisible twat! 'I don't want anyone seeing me.' Ha! You're so full of shit! You really are

Okay. Let's do this, dear reader(s). It's a PR email.

SAN JOSE, CA - ForeScout Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCT), a leading Internet of Things (IoT) security company, today announced the pricing of its initial public offering of 5,280,000 shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $22.00 per share. The shares are expected to begin trading on the NASDAQ Global Select Market on October 27, 2017 under the symbol "FSCT." The offering is expected to close on October 31, 2017, subject to customary closing conditions.

Okay, okay. I'm a bit late with this. It's not my fault. They sent the email too late last week, but - 'It doesn't close until tomorrow, boss.' No, Voice. There's still time, everyone! Oh, by the way, the legal stuff, yeah? -

A registration statement relating to the offering has been filed with, and declared effective by, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"). Copies of the registration statement can be accessed through the SEC's website at www.sec.gov. This press release does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy, nor will there be any sale of these securities in any state or jurisdiction in which such offer, solicitation, or sale would be unlawful before registration or qualification under the securities laws of that state or jurisdiction.

Right. I'm glad we've got that out of the way. We don't want the SEC getting upset, do we? / Here's a bit more about the offering ... to the gods? 'Ha!' No. Don't be silly!

ForeScout has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 792,000 additional shares of common stock at the initial public offering price less underwriting discounts and commissions.

Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. are acting as lead book-running managers for the offering. BofA Merrill Lynch and UBS Securities LLC are also acting as book-running managers for the offering. KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc. is acting as a co-manager.

Okay, okay. That's all nice and everything, but let's clear up the confusion about ForeScout Technologies. 'There is no confusion.' There is! Look -

ForeScout Technologies, Inc. helps make the invisible visible. Our company provides Global 2000 enterprises and government agencies with agentless visibility and control of traditional and IoT devices the instant they connect to the network. Our technology integrates with disparate security tools to help organizations accelerate incident response, break down silos, automate workflows and optimize existing investments.

Well ... 'I told you!' Well, I'm actually none the wiser, me. Maybe it's amazing that they can make the invisible visible, I don't know. 'They help.' Oh, they "help", of course. But are we paying them just to help? That's the question. 'Er ...' I don't know. I'm not convinced at all. 'Christ!' Well, it all sounded so good in the beginning, didn't it? I regret starting this post now. 'You've got to write about something on a chilly Monday morning, boss.' That's true.

...

Anything else? Music? My music? [This is the very last update.] Well, I've got a great new tune (three minutes, needs lyrics). It will give me an eleven track album of forty-three minutes! 'Yippee!' Yeah.

Laters.

Kayne Partners Fund IV

What the hell is this?! ... you might be wondering, if you're one of these people, dear reader(s), who is interested in funds and shit. 'Tell them, boss! Tell your readers what it is!' Okay. Well, Voice, and, uh, reader(s), it's a new fund, and it has just closed because the firm, Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, has got all the money they wanted for it. 'How much, boss?! Tell us! Please!' Ha! Will you calm down, son? Seriously. 'Sorry.' They've raised $385 million. 'Wow!' Yeah. And they're going to invest it in business and financial services, the media, and telecom stuff, and some other stuff. 'Nice.' Yes, it is. / Here's a bit about the firm, its story, as it were -

Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., founded in 1984, is an independent alternative investment management firm focused on niche investing in upstream oil and gas companies, energy infrastructure, specialized real estate, middle market credit and growth private equity. Kayne's investment philosophy is to pursue niches, with an emphasis on cash flow. We believe our knowledge and sourcing capabilities enable us to deliver above average, risk-adjusted investment returns. Kayne manages $24.5 billion in assets (as of 9/30/2017) for institutional investors, family offices, high net worth and retail clients and employs over 300 professionals in eight offices across the United States.

All over in America, of course. If anything were happening in Britain, dear reader(s), I would certainly tell you. 'What do you mean, boss?' I mean, man, nothing's happening in Britain, except firms getting ready to move to Frankfurt. 'Ha!' And that's not the sort of news we want, really, is it?

...

Anything else? Music update? Well - 'Oi!' What? 'I thought you weren't doing updates no more.' I just want to correct something from yesterday, that's all. 'Okay, Mikey. Go on then.' I don't need your permission or approval, idiot! Christ! / As I was saying ... well, I've decided it will be a mistake to stop writing songs and just play guitar. I've got to find the time for both, on top of everything else in my life. What I might do, is set one day each week for writing, like Sunday. But don't worry about it, reader(s)! Jesus H. - !!! It's not your problem, you dig? 'They've got problems of their own.' Of course they have!

Will cryptocurrency become mainstream?

Who knows, dear reader(s)? I don't. 'Boss, how's your Mikeycoin coming along?' Er ... not too well, at the moment, Voice, to be honest with you. Maybe I should stick to the music. 'Yeah, but when you make it as a big star, you could give these Mikeycoins out to your fans when they buy your albums and concert tickets, and then they could buy other stuff with them. And then maybe Mikeycoin would take off, and if you had a load stashed away they would rise in value and you'd be a billionaire or something, man.' Ha! Yes, it's a nice idea. But it might be too ambitious for me. I might just bring out a perfume ... / Anyway ...

Will Amazon accept Bitcoin this month, and will crypto currency become mainstream? In a thought-provoking viewpoint for ParcelHero, Forbes' digital currency specialist Roger Aitken asks if Amazon will adopt Bitcoin as early as this month, and says we should all consider joining the crypto currency party.

Ha! They send this to the founder of Mikeycoin ...

In a wake-up call to investors and consumers, the award-winning Forbes' cryptocurrency journalist Roger Aitken has revealed that a global petition urging Amazon to accept Bitcoin has already gained nearly 12,000 signatures.

Only twelve thousand?! Whatever.

Roger says the Change.org's campaign is gaining in publicity, and argues we should all consider "dipping our toes" in the cryptocurrency market.

Toes? I've dived in, mate. Jesus H. - !!! Haven't you heard of Mikeycoin, Roger?

Roger reveals the petition argues accepting Bitcoin will "streamline commerce" and improve the purchasing experience for "millions" of Amazon shoppers. And he says some industry pundits are predicting Amazon could make an announcement on adopting Bitcoin during its next investor call, scheduled for October 26th.

Well, let's wait and see, eh? 'That's tomorrow, boss!' Yeah. I don't think Amazon will risk it.

Adds Roger: "Fellow tech company Microsoft was famously an early adopter of the new digital currency, back in 2014. There's little doubt that if Amazon were also to accept Bitcoin it would legitimize the currency." But he cautions that, back in 2014, a very similar Change.org petition drew around 5,300 signatures; but Amazon kicked the idea into touch at the time, saying it had considered the cryptocurrency but had no current plans.

Okay, okay. No current plans. / Oh, what's this? -

But he warns of the 600 cryptocurrencies released, not all will be as established as Bitcoin and Ethereum and there is also "some real garbage out there." Cautions Roger: "Some warn Bitcoin and its fellows are all reminiscent of the Internet/dotcom of the late 1990s - a passing fad that created a bubble."

Some real garbage? I hope he's not talking about Mikeycoin.

...

Anything else? Music? My music?! Christ! This is a finance blog, reader(s), yeah? What's your problem? 'Oh, go on, Mikey!' / All right. This is the last time. As you know, I have ten songs. I'm planning to write one more quickly, and then I'm going to concentrate on my guitar playing for the foreseeable future. There's no point, at the moment, in having more songs than I need for an album.

Right. Brexit? Sod off! Seriously. / Later(s), crocodile(s)!

3D printing is the future!

Apparently. According to our Jinksy, anyway. 'I believe him, boss. He knows what's going on.' Oh yeah? Well, how am I going to download a new guitar from the internet, genius? Have a word with yourself, Voice, for Christ's sake!

"3D printing will have a huge impact on our lives and on our High Streets," ParcelHero's Head of Consumer Research, David Jinks MILT, told an audience of leading retailers and supply chain professionals at this week's Richmond Supply Chain Forum.

High Streets? Capitals? Whatever.

Detailing the impact of e-commerce on retail logistics at the key industry event - held this year at the Luton Hoo Hotel, Bedfordshire - David revealed that it will not only be home desk top 3D printers that transform how consumers receive their items, but that an entirely new type of 3D print store will also open on our High Streets within a decade.

Oh yeah, right. Guitars, David? Come on, son.

Said David: "Not only will small domestic 3D printers make possible the downloading and manufacturing of everything from spare parts and toys, to kitchen utensils and clothing; but stores with printers far larger than those in the home will open in the same way photo-copy shops sprang up 30 years ago."

David told his audience of retail and logistics professionals that, "3D printing will bring the era of instant shopping gratification nearer for consumers. Already it's not just plastic items that can be printed; but metal 3D filaments are increasingly available to enable the download and manufacture tough, precise products in the home."

Yeah, no guitars. No Yamaha acoustics. Or Les Pauls. It's just as I thought. 'Boss, he never said you could get guitars. Why don't you read these fucking emails properly before you start coming out with your half-assed opinions?' Er ... excuse me, Voice. Remember who pays your wages. You're on thin ice, my little disembodied friend. 'Ha! What wages?' Shut up! / Oh, what's this? -

And he predicted that larger stores will be able to print items too big for home printers on demand - leading to an entirely new retail sector on the High Street. "These new 3D print stores will manufacture Items from car mudguards and exhaust systems, to tables, large garden statues, sheds - and even preformed 3D printed houses are already being produced in China."

Nice. But there's no need for Yamaha and Gibson/Epiphone to worry, is there? FFS!

Okay. That's enough. I've lost my enthusiasm now. However, I've proved my point. Jinksy was wrong, and I was right.

...

Anything else? No. Laters.

Are you responsible?

Oh, you better be, dear reader(s)! I mean, I think you are, actually. 'Responsible?! Responsible for what, boss?! You've gone too far this time. Your readers aren't responsible for anything. Don't blame others. Look at yourself!' Eh?! What are you talking about, you little idiot?! 'Well, what are you talking about?' Voice, it's just a PR email, son ... about responsible investing. 'Oh, all right.' Yes. It is all right.

Munich/London, 18 October 2017 - Responsible capital markets clearly have a positive influence, oekom research has concluded in its latest Impact Study (2017). According to a survey of nearly 500 companies, the impact that responsible investors, banks and ratings agencies have on companies' sustainability efforts has increased considerably since the last survey was conducted in 2013.

You see, Voice? 'Okay. I just thought you were blaming your lovely long-suffering readers for something.' Don't be silly. Why would I do that?

Sustainability ratings agencies are the main driver of change.

Sustainability ratings agencies play a decisive role in this, whereas the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are currently less significant for most companies. The global study was conducted in partnership with the PRI (Principles of Responsible Investment).

Companies generally agree on the importance of sustainability. More than 90% of firms asked described it as being of 'great' or 'very great' importance.

The strongest driver of increased awareness of, and commitment to, sustainability among companies are the demands and analyses of sustainability ratings agencies. A total of 61.3% of companies state that they have been motivated to look into sustainability issues by such agencies (the same percentage as four years ago) making this the most important factor for the first time. Customer requirements and expectations moved into second place, having previously been the top driver, at 60.3%.

You see? You gotta be sustainable. Easier said than done, of course. About two thirds of insects have died off in the last couple of years. 'Eh?' Something like that. I read it on the Guardian website last night. 'Oh.' Yeah. / Okay. Let's hear from Bobby Hassler -

According to Robert Hassler, CEO of oekom research: "The impact of responsible investment has increased in the last few years. We are particularly proud of the fact that ratings agencies, compared to our first Impact Study in 2013, are considered even more relevant and have become an important driver for corporate sustainability activities. Sustainability ratings have a huge leverage effect. However, this high significance is coupled with considerable responsibility, which must be reflected in the use of a strong quality management system by agencies."

Okay, okay. Nothing about the insects. 'People don't invest in insects, do they, boss?' No. But maybe they should, you dig? Because all life on earth is fucked without the insects. 'Big time.' Having said that, a few thousand wasps nearly chased me off a cliff in Cornwall a few years ago, so ... 'So what?!' Well, I wouldn't mind some payback, you know? 'Oh, leave them alone, man! You didn't get one sting.' That's true. They were quite friendly, for wasps. 'Tell your readers about the bees.' They know about the bees, Voice. I've written about this before. 'Remind them.' All right. After the incident with the thousands of wasps, I was walking along this road to Polperro when I came across twenty or so bees by a tree. Twenty! 'Ha! What did they do, Mikey?' Well, they tried it on with me, didn't they? Just buzzing around my head and that. But I was totally calm. I was like, Yeah, bring it on, you losers. I don't give a shit. Do you know what I mean?

Anyway, it's the end of the week now. Have a nice weekend, reader(s)! Laters.

What do you believe at work?

We're talking faith here, dear reader(s). Personally, I reckon you should believe in me and my financial shamanism, but I know that some of you weird ones like to believe in God. 'Ha! It's their funeral, boss.' Exactly!

Consultancies Deloitte and EY have been shortlisted for a ComRes Belief At Work Award, nominated by their employees.

So, what's this then?

The new awards scheme celebrating excellence in employer relations relating to religion and belief gathers evidence based on the experiences of colleagues within the organization, to assess whether and how the organization has developed a workplace culture where people of all faiths and none can thrive.

You'll notice they don't mention financial shamanism, rock and roll shamanism, or any type of shamanism. 'Boss, give them a chance, for crying out loud!' All right, Voice, all right. I'll give them a chance.

"We have received some inspiring nominations from people feeling very supported in the workplace, and able to bring their whole selves to work," says Katie Harrison, Director of ComRes Faith Research Centre. "It is hugely encouraging to hear of the ways employers are listening well to their colleagues, and the hugely positive effect this has on motivation and confidence."

Well, there's nothing worse than bringing half of yourself to work. 'Ha!' What? 'I come to work here every day on your blog as a disembodied voice. That's all, man. Just a voice! How would they like them apples?' Shut up, you idiot!

"There is a common consensus that people's experience at work comes down to two things: the organizational culture modelled by leaders, and the direct rapport with a line manager," says Katie Harrison. "Where employers are sending helpful messages around the whole of the organization by making provision, naming expectations and modelling good listening, an overall culture becomes established. And when someone feels heard and understood by their line manager, they feel able to bring their whole self to work and their experience of the workplace is much richer."

Yeah, right. Still no mention of financial shamanism. I've had readers of this blog, followers of mine, complain that no one at work understands their need to get lost in one of my shamanistic conceptual posts. 'And the desert.' What? 'The old days, boss. It used to be bloody difficult for your followers to get time off for the desert, astral and physical.' Oh, of course. The physical desert was the hardest. 'Obviously.' Yeah. / Anyway, let's hear from Emma Codd. She probably has something she wants to say about financial shamanism ...

Emma Codd, Managing Partner for Talent, Deloitte UK, said: "I am delighted and very proud that Deloitte has been shortlisted for this award by ComRes. Having an inclusive environment where everyone is treated with respect and is recognized for the value they can bring is very important to us, and ensuring that people of all faiths and none are able to fully be themselves and can thrive both personally and professionally is a key part of creating that environment."

Unbelievable! 'Boss, what do you expect?' Er, some acknowledgement of the importance of financial shamans in the financial workplace! Yeah? 'Yeah, she's not going to come out and say something like that, is she?' Okay, okay.

Okay. Well, that's enough of that.

...

Anything else? Brexit? FFS! Listen, I don't discuss that shit, reader(s). However, I'll just say ... imagine the referendum result last year if the Leave side promised that we would leave the single market and the customs union and not get a trade deal with the EU! 'Or anyone else, boss.' Ha! Yeah, or anyone else, Voice. There are no trade deals on the horizon at all at the moment because every other country wants to see what our relationship with the EU will be. It's a joke, man!

Laters.
