NEWS RELEASE
Yes, yes. Obviously.
For immediate release: 23 January 2024
All right, don't rub it in.
GlobalData announces top M&A financial and legal advisers in Europe region during 2023.
Thank you.
'We got there at last, boss.'
Yes, Voice.
GlobalData has announced the latest Financial and Legal Adviser League Tables, which rank advisers by the total value and volume of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals they advised on in the European region during 2023.
Uh. Okay.
Rothschild & Co was the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial adviser in the European region in 2023 in terms of both value and volume, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData's Deals Database reveals that Rothschild & Co achieved this leading position by advising on 196 deals worth $73.6 billion.
Well done, guys!
'They deserve a Jammie Dodger.'
Ha! Maybe.
Anyway ...
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: "Despite experiencing a decline in deal volume and value in 2023 compared to 2022, Rothschild & Co outpaced its peers by a significant margin. However, it fell short of only four deals to touch the 200 deals volume mark during 2023. Moreover, Rothschild & Co was the only adviser to surpass $70 billion in total deal value during the year. Rothschild & Co advised on a total of 21 billion-dollar deals in 2023, including one mega deal valued more than $10 billion."
Mega deal.
I had a meal deal yesterday at Tesco. For lunch. I wasn't even aware of it. However, the guy behind the till said I could have an orange juice or a water.
I had the orange juice.
Anyway, who came second?
Barclays occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $50.7 billion worth of deals, followed by Citi with $50.4 billion, JP Morgan with $48.6 billion and Goldman Sachs with $47.9 billion.
Meanwhile, KPMG occupied the second position in terms of volume with 142 deals, followed by PwC with 120 deals, Ernst & Young with 106 deals and Lazard with 93 deals.
Okay. What about the legal guys?
Allen & Overy and CMS were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in Europe in 2023 by value and volume, respectively according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData's Deals Database reveals that Allen & Overy achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $72.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, CMS led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 242 deals.
Nice one!
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: "CMS was the clear winner by volume as it was the only firm that managed to advise on more than 200 deals during 2023. Meanwhile, Allen & Overy faced close competition from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which missed the top spot in terms of value by a whisker. It is noteworthy that Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer was the top adviser by value in 2022. Both Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer registered growth in total value of deals advised in 2023 but it was relatively higher for Allen & Overy, which helped it top the chart."
Okay.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $72.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Clifford Chance with $43.4 billion, Kirkland & Ellis with $39.1 billion and Linklaters with $34.6 billion.
Meanwhile, Allen & Overy occupied the second position in terms of volume with 137 deals, followed by White & Case with 129 deals, Baker McKenzie with 123 deals and Clifford Chance with 98 deals.
Fair enough.
