David Burcham is doing all right, ain't he?

You know Dave Burcham, yeah? 'No.' Come on, you must do. He was an associate at Levine Leichtman Capital Partners. / [Er ... Levine Leichtman Capital Partners is an independent investment management firm that has managed approximately $7 billion of committed capital since its inception. Since 1984, it has provided investment capital to leading entrepreneurs enabling them to maintain a position of leadership equal to Levine Leichtman's world class institutional partners.] / That was six years ago. Then he got promoted to associate director. 'Great!' That's not the end of it, Voice. Then he got promoted to director, three years ago. 'Wow!' Now, our Dave has been promoted to ... managing director!!! 'Bloody hell, boss! It sounds like a meteoric rise to power.' Yeah, it is. And you should see Levine Leichtman's website, man. They've got pictures of their office - and it looks just like Freddie Mays' flat in Gangster No. 1. 'Brilliant!' I reckon Mr Burcham will be No. 1 himself in a couple of years.

But as one person goes up in the world, another goes down. 'What?' Yes, I'm talking about Antony Jenkins, the ex-Barclays chief executive. 'Ha!' Dear oh dear, eh? Whatever happened to respect, integrity, service, excellence, and stewardship? 'Christ knows!' The whole world has gone crazy! Our Antony was trying his best ...

It's so depressing. No one is safe. / However, I think Dave Burcham is doing the right thing. One day, he'll be sitting on the leather settee with the handmade shoes.

You have to protect yourself. Everyone is out to get you. 'Surely not!' It's the truth. They might not come today. They might come tomorrow. What are you going to do?

There must be a cave, somewhere, reader(s). We can go together. I'll look after you. And you can look after me.

...

Oh, I have to say: I'm looking forward to No. 329. A little escape, you dig? Just for a few hours. It's nice to get away for a few hours. 'I thought it was eternity, Mikey?' All depends on your point of view, Voice. And how committed YOU(!) are ...

I like to be committed. 'You would like to be committed?' I am committed!
